Ximaps Dong is a Queer Chinese-American interdisciplinary artist residing in San Francisco, California. Ximaps creates work that is rooted in childhood memories and feelings shaped by colonialism, capitalism, and institutional racism. They aim to decolonize memories through regular abstraction, play, and humor; the dream-like environments induce a sense of nostalgia that calls on others to share in response. Experimentation plays a crucial role in Ximaps’ work, which is grounded in their respective experiences, identity, cultural heritage, authorship and challenges with mental health. Ximaps received their BA in Art History with a concentration in Studio at San Francisco State University.
